Draft Letters

letters you can send (to help save the world) back to home page

Below is a DRAFT of a letter to be sent to individual FOOD STORES, supermarkets and to the head offices of major retail chains. Please copy and paste. Use your own wording if you prefer but stick to the main points:

Attention: General Manager
(Retailer’s name)

In the light of the global swing to vegan food, as a result of the dire environmental warning by The United Nations, and with increased knowledge of the health risks of an animal-based diet, it would be in your best interests to:

1) Source and supply a much greater variety of meat substitutes like seitan. There are many Asian, Indian and local manufacturers of amazingly good vegan ‘meat’, ‘fish’ and ‘chicken’, which, at present are only available in a few specialty shops and usually overpriced.

2) Market vegan meat and dairy substitutes to non-vegans as well as vegans. i.e.: Place these products alongside their animal-based counterparts with adequate signage to ensure potential buyers see them and try them. This has already proved successful with free-range eggs and e.g. Linda McCartneys vegetarian pies and burgers.

3) Reduce the price of these products so that people on a budget can afford them. People with a conscience, or an eating disorder, should not be forced to pay high prices. An increase in the number of sales should more than compensate for the reduced profit margin.

4) Consider pooling advertising bugets with other manufactures, distributors, retailers.
Because of the huge global shift to veg*n food and millions of potential customers, a massive advertising campaign aimed at the average shopper, could see a huge increase in sales which would benefit everyone.

Please consider these suggestions. There are millions of potential customers who want these products but can’t get them or can’t afford them.

Below is a DRAFT of a letter to be sent to FOOD IMPORTERS and distributors. Please copy and paste. Use your own wording if you prefer but stick to the main points:

Below is a DRAFT of a letter to be sent to MANUFACTURERS of vegan/vegetarian food. Please copy and paste. Use your own wording if you prefer but stick to the main points:

Attention: General Manager
(Manufacturer’s name)

It’s wonderful that manufacturers like you are providing ethically sound products, especially since the dire environmental warning by The United Nations, and with increased knowledge of the health risks of an animal-based diet. However, with so many people considering a vegan/vegetarian diet, it would be in your best interests to:

1) Source or manufacture a much greater variety of meat and dairy substitutes. There are so many Asian, Indian or local manufacturers of amazingly good vegan ‘meat’, ‘fish’, ‘chicken’ and ‘cheese’ but, at present these products are only available in a few specialty shops and usually overpriced.

2) Consider placing your products in more mainstream outlets. If your products are not in major supermarkets, you’re losing money. Vegan food is no longer a specialty product.
Every household has at least one potential vegetarian. Die-hard vegans will seek out specialty shops that sell their food but the millions of potential vegan/vegetarians don’t.

3) Suggest to mainstream outlets who will sell your products: market them to non-vegans as well as vegans. i.e.: Place these products alongside their animal-based counterparts with adequate signage to ensure potential buyers see them and try them. This has already proved successful with free-range eggs and e.g. Linda McCartneys vegetarian pies and burgers.

Below is a DRAFT of fan mail letter to VEGAN CELEBRITIES (e.g. Ellen Degeneres)
Use your own wording if you prefer but stick to the main points.

Hi (Ellen),

I’m a big fan and I’m also a fellow vegan. My fellow animal-rights supporters and I often wonder why you and the many other vegan celebrities don’t stand united and publicly advocate that everyone becomes vegan, not only for the animals but for the future of our planet. Even the United Nations has declared that unless the majority of the Earth’s population becomes vegan, the World will die a horrible death and our children will never reach their parents’ age.

Please, for the sake of our kids and for all the suffering animals, consider a bold statement, even an advertising campaign on TV. There are ways you can avoid being prosecuted for damages by the meat and dairy industries, e.g. If you and several others made an ad where you all just say part of the message, so no one person can be held accountable. Just an idea.

Please, (Ellen). Help save the World.

All the best, (your name)

(Vegan Celebrities & Famous Vegetarians: http://www.happycow.net/famous_vegetarians.html)

If ALL the famous veg celebs pooled their resources and used their celebrity status to influence a global change, IT WOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT ROLE THEY EVER PLAYED. A bold statement, maybe an advertising campaign on TV could save the World! There are ways they could avoid being prosecuted for damages by the meat and dairy industries, e.g. If, say, twenty popular vegan actors made an ad where they all just said part of the message, so no one person can be held accountable. If you know any way to get this message to these celebrities, do it. Please SHARE this message.

Below is a  letter I sent to PARENTS, which can be forwarded by you to your contacts.

To All Parents,

This is possibly the most important letter you’ll ever receive. Not because I’m important. I’m just a messenger. I’m also a teacher and have been a child carer. If you love your children, please read this with an open mind, and trust that I have nothing to gain from writing it except to see your kids growing up in a safer, less violent world.

At this point in history, everyone, especially parents must make some changes in their lives, if we want our children to survive. We can’t wait for the government to act – they are just puppets operated by wealthy corporations. It’s up to us to act and ‘vote’ with our dollars. To change the World for the better, we must change ourselves, break free of tradition and be brave enough to try a new way. We must do it, for our kids and for the future of all life on Earth.

We can’t rely on the media to tell us the truth, either, because they’re also owned and controlled by the mega-rich few. They will tell you what I’m saying here is wrong but a lot of well respected people have been saying it for a long time.

So, who will you believe? Someone who loves kids or those who love money?

As a teacher and child carer I’ve tried to be honest with young children. It was a tricky business not ‘treading on the toes’ of the parents of the kids in my care, though. I saw those children following in their parents’ and grandparents’ footsteps, making the same consumer choices, believing the same myths and being encouraged to ‘harden up’ to the cruelty which feeds our society. So, I tactfully told them the truth about what happens to ‘food’ animals and then the parents forbad them to talk to me about my ‘beliefs’.

In all fairness to the parents, they probably don’t want their kids to know about the violence, so they tell them half truths to shield them but then continue to feed them the products of violence. Children should not be burdened with the horrors of the World. It’s their right to be happy and free of care. But I don’t think they should be lied to, either and it’s hard to watch yet another generation following the same path as parents, who seem totally oblivious that they’re contributing to the ‘cancer’ which is killing our world.

It’s wrong to force your beliefs on others, like some religious nuts do, but I don’t have beliefs. You either know something for sure or you don’t.
‘Belief’ implies doubt.

*There is no doubt that animal products are full of growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, other toxic chemicals and cholesterol, which are the cause of health disorders and fatal diseases.

*There is no doubt that meat and dairy exacerbate heart failure and bowel, liver and breast cancer which prematurely kill most people in the western world. Even in nature vegetarian animals can live very long lives, whereas meat eaters live short lives and nearly always die of cancer.

*There is no doubt that 70 – 90% of the world’s crops are fed to the 50 billion animals who are slaughtered each year for food, and this is the main reason for World Hunger.

*There is no doubt that the way society treats animals directly affects the way we treat other people. If one form of violence is accepted, all violence will be accepted. For thousands of years, philosophers and scientists like Pythagoras, Socrates and Da Vinci, and religious leaders like Jesus and Buddha, claimed that eating food which comes from violence causes violent behaviour and has been the main reason for murder and war.

*There is no doubt that breeding and farming the animals, whose corpses we eat, are the main causes of the environmental disaster which has already started. This will cause ‘hell-on-earth’ before your kids reach your current age. According to the United Nations, following a worldwide scientific survey, we have less than 20 years left, unless most of us become vegan before 2020.

So why aren’t these facts public knowledge? They are out there but, as I said, the media doesn’t promote them and, in fact, often lies and tries to discredit them because the massive corporations, owned by the wealthy elite, would lose billions of dollars if people knew the truth.

The irony is: every human being that ever lived was a vegan! We’re born that way. Our ancestors were, for a million years, before the discovery of fire allowed them to cook dead animals. If our species was truly carnivorous or even omnivorous, we’d eat meat raw. But we can’t chew or digest raw meat (unless it’s minced) and if we regularly did, we’d die of toxaemia because of rotting flesh in our long (vegan) digestive tract and comparatively weak stomach acid.

The World is already becoming vegan. 35% of Americans are already regularly eating vegetarian food, Israel is 8% vegan and there are several cities where the sale of meat and eggs is outlawed. But the change isn’t happening fast enough.

If you value your kids’ future, allow them to try vegan alternatives to meat and dairy food, and explain that it’s not weird to be vegan, it’s actually natural, and in their lifetimes it will become normal. Even Bill Gates said recently, that the future of meat is vegan.

Unfortunately vegan meat and dairy alternatives are still a little pricey but they’ll come down in price as more people want them. Anyway, you’ll save so much on medical expenses it’ll be worth it. Vegans hardly ever get sick. A vegan diet without meat substitutes (using legumes, nuts, etc) is far cheaper than a meat diet.

If you need help with food ideas go on-line and Google vegetarian ‘meat’ or vegan recipes. There are on-line cruelty-free shops, which deliver delicious meat, chicken, fish and cheese substitutes. There are also vegetarian societies with kids’ activities groups and support groups to help you change.

Save your kids’ future, save the World, save animals from cruelty and save money.
Go vegan
.

Below is a DRAFT of an open letter to THE POPE, printed and on-line, translated into different languages and distributed widely in Catholic countries with an official copy sent directly to The Vatican.

Your Holiness,

Copies of this letter are being distributed widely in several Catholic countries.

The appointment of a Pope named Francis gives many of us hope. Since Francis was the patron saint of animals, we pray you share his love.

All around the World millions of people are wondering why there is so much evil when human beings are so capable of love and joy. It’s a little too easy for us to just blame it on the Devil.

Although human greed and lust for power are contributing factors, many of the wisest and most spiritual people throughout history, including (many believe) our Lord Jesus Christ, have believed that there is a greater, more insidious evil that has infected most of the people on Earth. It is very likely that you, too, know exactly what this evil is.

This evil continues to exist because of tradition and conditioning but mainly because the powers who control money and manipulate human behavior through advertising, don’t want it to change, even if it is at the root of most human misery.

Historical studies have revealed to many of us, that all the major religions, including Christianity, had a similar, fundamental belief to start with. This belief has somehow got lost in translation or conveniently forgotten about. As I’m sure you’re aware, when Rome took over Christianity in the Fourth Century, Emperor Constantine changed or deleted many of the original scriptures.

The one teaching that was part of the original Christian, Buddhist and Islamic belief was simply: ‘Do No Harm’. Unfortunately, it has been misunderstood to mean ‘do no harm to other people’ when, as you are very well aware, it means ‘do no harm to any living thing’.

Jesus Christ, Buddha and Mohammed all taught people to never harm another living being and never take life because only God has that rite.

So why, Your Holiness, does The Catholic Faith allow animals to suffer terrible cruelty? Why do people continue to eat evil in the form of the flesh of tortured animals, when our savior and the leaders of the other great religions all condemned it? Why are greedy corporations allowed to continually brainwash weak-minded people to buy and consume products that clearly cause cancer, heart and liver disease, violence and war?

And “As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields” ~Leo Tolstoy.

It is believed by many that a Great Spiritual Event, which will change human behavior for the better, is going to occur soon. Could it be that you will be part of that Event? Are you soon to announce to the whole Catholic realm, and to The World, that everyone should start to do what Jesus Christ originally wanted us to do? To stop eating Death and to DO NO HARM.

We all hope so.

Yours very humbly,

Everyman
